Hollywood & VineHollywood & Vine The Trafford Centre, The Dome, Manchester, M17 8DF map

Hollywood & Vine is the Odeons cinemas own bar, named after the famous intersection between Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in California which is where most of the big radio and movie related businesses of the 20’s were housed. This is a great place to meet up before you go in to your film, kick back with some friends have a quick beer and talk showbizz.

The Hare and HoundsThe Hare and Hounds  46 Shudehill, Manchester, M4 4AA map

  • a true working man’s manchester boozer that’s starting to enjoy a new lease of life as the shudehill interchange and redeveloped northern quarter pump new customers into what was previously a very quiet street.  the three roomed hare and hounds is a guilty treat sat between the printworks and the northern quarter’s new hub. The interior is full of football and manchester memorabilia and the upright piano is frequently played for old style singsongs. The real ale on offer is excellent and the landlord and landlady are friendly.

Hog’s Head November 14, 2006

Hog's HeadHog’s Head 144 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 3EE map

  • The Hog’s Head is a chain pub in the centre of Deansgate, offering cheap drinks and food in a Wetherspoon’s style. Whilst it’s a fairly large pub it’s location, on the fringes of the more popular bar and shopping areas, means that many people tend to just pass by rather than making a night out in there. Being a big chain, there’s usually special offers and promotions available throughout the week and it gets popular when the football is shown on their large screens.

Hard Rock Cafe November 8, 2006

Hard Rock CafeHard Rock Cafe Manchester Unit 7/9, The Printworks, 27, Manchester, M4 2BS map

  • Hard Rock Cafe is a larger than life American experience offering all the flare you’d expect from a Yankee restaurant and bar including generous drinks and cocktails.  As is normal for Hard Rock chain bars, there’s a large collection of authentic rock memorabilia, although sadly this seriously lacks much Mancunian influence – tragic considering how many Manc bands they could have used!  There’s always plenty happening and lots to see, with occasional rock bands playing live and DJ’s playing classic rock and indie tunes.  Great place to soak up the atmosphere, have a beer or cocktail and stuff yourself silly with traditional American food.  There’s also a ‘Hard Rock Shop’ so you can take something home with you to prove you’ve been!

Harvey Nichols, Second Floor Restaurant & Bar

Harvey Nichols - Second Floor Restaurant & BarHarvey Nichols, Second Floor Restaurant & Bar Exchange Square, Manchester, M1 1AD map

  • The Second Floor Restaurant in Harvey Nichols, with its swanky cocktail bar, is a great place to go after a hard days shopping.  The interior is of a standard you’d expect from a high-class designer store like the one downstairs and there’s a great selection of cocktails to choose from as well.  If you’re looking for somewhere to start the night off in style then this is a great choice, with 2  restaurants offering top quality food and a bar with an excellent choice of drinks.  The MEN Arena, Royal Exchange Theatre, Printworks and Deansgate are all next door and, because the entrance to the restaurant and bar is at the side of the store, you can socialise long after the shop has closed.
  • Cocktails
  • Food (European)
  • Opening Hours:  Mon & Sun 10am-6pm / Tues-Sat 10am-11pm

Henry J Beans Bar & Grill November 1, 2006

Henry J Beans ManchesterHenry J Beans The Printworks, Withy Grove, Manchester, M4 2BS map

  • After a lengthy spell away from Manchester, the popular Henry J Beans returned with their all-American themed bar to The Printworks.  Like in their original Blackfriars basement bar (which was opposite the Renaissance Hotel in the 1990’s), you’ll find professional bartenders mixing a wide range of cocktails.  The bar also carries an extensive range of wine and beers and they claim to boast the biggest selection of spirits in Manchester (disagree? let us know below).   Henry J Beans offer a nice food menu offering Americana type food burgers, steaks and sandwiches at resonable prices and then there’s a DJ and dance floor offering late night cheesy party music to help you burn off those big fat American calories.
