BluuBluu  Smithfield Market, Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1BD map

  • Bluu was one of the first trendy bars to open in the new area of the northern quarter focused around the redeveloped smithfield market.  Named after the original name of the famous Blue Note Jazz Club, it hit the scene in quite a big way in 2004, becoming popular with manchester’s great and good. The place itself is made up of three areas, the main bar with large panoramic windows, the dining section and the basement lounge. There are two menus available, a simple, typical bar menu and a fine dining a la carte menu. The service is good and the bar staff friendly although the drinks are a little bit pricey. The only downer is the doorstaff can sometimes make people queue outside when there doesn’t seem to be a reason to.

Nice little bar but its starting to get full of the pretencious crowd and it’s so annoying when they make you queue outside when clearly there are only a hand full of people inside…. get real

  2. Mush Says:

Same gripe as above they make you wait to obviously make the place look like its the place to be. Bit of a pathetic tactic really and just annoys people who like the bar.
I never bother with the place once it gets past 8.30 on a weekend as they start their antics around then!!

Love this bar, always lively and full of cute girls (always a bonus).

Good drinks with good prices and well worth a visit.

  4. Murphy Says:

Great service – lovely interior, but please BLUU dont ruin it and let the same Deansgate pretentious crowd in – listen to your regular customers who enjoy coming every week – otherwise you will lose your class you have worked so hard to create. Dont understand the logic of keeping people on the street when quite clearly there are so hardly any people inside – its putting people off – do you really want that!!!
