- velvet is a great venue if its your first visit to the village. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is great. From it’s picture postcard frontage to it’s boudoir feel inside, it’s a really inviting place, whether your gay or straight. The menu continually gets good reviews and with such a huge selection its not surprising, you really do feel like a member of the velvet family when visiting this place. It’s certainly one of the best bars in Manchester
- Gay bar (straight friendly)
- Food (varied)
- extensive wine menu

Fab bar great food BUT… music upstairs is awful and doesn’t suit the mood or style of the place
Dear Manager,
My name is Tracy Minshull; I am the deputy manager for Victim Support and Witness Service in the City of Manchester (just around the corner from your fab bar and restaurant).
As you maybe aware VS & WS is a national charity supporting victims and witnesses of crime. We receive limited funding and rely on donations, charity events and the support of our volunteers.
We offer a free and confidential service for anyone affected by crime, along with a free counselling service, a Wednesday night LGBT drop in surgery for the community, a dedicate hate crime worker to work with the LGBT community, free representation when applying for criminal injuries compensation, as well as specialised workers dealing with hate crime, serious crime, crimes against children and victims of domestic violence.
We are hosting a Charity Dinner on 15 September 2007, to be held at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester. This event should provide, along with a most enjoyable evening of five-star entertainment, a fantastic opportunity to network between organisations working within Manchester striving towards a safer city.
We would be very grateful if you would consider supporting us in this event. We are looking for a meal for two or four people, if possible including a bottle of bubbly… This would go forward as one of our star prizes and your bar / restaurant would be marketed as a major sponsor of the event.
We will hopefully be able to auction these prizes in order to raise additional funds to directly support victims and witnesses across the City of Manchester.
Your contribution can really make a significant difference, so please donate what ever you can.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for supporting Victim Support and Witness Service in the City of Manchester.
Kindest Regards
Tracy Minshull
