Mulligans - 12 South Gate, Manchester, M3 2RB map
- Mulligans is a traditional backstreet Irish pub, muched loved by many Manchester locals. It attracts a wide variety of people from regulars having a drink after work, music lovers checking out the likes of Michael McGoldrick and Dezi Donnelly, shoppers supping an end of day pint and younger folk seeking an alternative to the more trendy bars along Deansgate. In the days of Roy Keane and Denis Irwin, Manchester United players famously started their team nights out in here too. A very pleasant change from the franchised ‘Irish Pubs’ dotted around the city, it’s one of the best places in town to sit back with a Guinness and is also very proud of it’s Whiskey.
- Cask Ales
- Live Music (traditional Irish)

back in the days of denis urwin etc. Roy Keane got barred for slapping a barmaid
she wasnt a barmaid, but a headline grabbing trouble maker out to get in the red tops.
best pub in manchester. only saying that though because im a paddy. its a really good pub check it out. bit annoying to get to though
The best Guinness, Land Lord and Staff in town, by a mile !
Far and away the best place for Guiness in Manchester. New management is promising even more live Irish music and football. It can only get better with the upstairs bar finally being put to good use aswell!!! An excellent choice to start and even finish the night without being surrounded by the “revolution/bar med” types. Great menu aswell!!!
I saw Paul Scholes in here once.
I’ve been coming down to Manchester for years in search of a decent Irish bar. Mulligans is the best !!!
Well done, Gena and Joe, your hospitality is second to none !!
Excellent for the weekends, it’s a proper Dublin boozer in the city centre and makes a huge change from the usual choice of drunk infested Wetherspoons or uppity wine bars.
Clientele varies from solicitors to the travelling Irish Man Utd fans for every home game (it’s predominantly a Man U pub) and apparently they’re doing airport collections for fans now.
Food is top notch and reasonably priced, varied selection.
As we’ve all read before, it does serve without doubt the best Guinness in Manchester. GAA and 3pm Saturday matches shown.
Live music every Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun, although it’s not just Irish music.
Had a great night last Friday (30/3/12) the band were brilliant! wish I knew who they were.
