Manto Bar was one of the first bars to come to Canal Street back in 1990 when the Village was in it’s infancy.  At a time when most gay bars were concealling their customer’s from the outside world, Manto was probably the first gay bar to open with large glass windows offering passers by a great insight into what went on inside.  It closed down in 2001, was briefly renamed ’46 Canal Street’ and finally returned in 2003.  Spread over 3 floors, the main arena, a 2 floor open space with a dance foor with a lounge area and balcony. They serve food, and also have internet access on site.
