  • Walkabout is a large chain of Australian themed bars, the Manchester branch being just across the road from the Opera House and on the edge of both the Deansgate and Peter Street areas.  The bar is huge, spread over 3 floors, each offering a range of lagers, beers, spirits and cocktails. Walkabout also serve a range of food, including Kangaroo and other dishescooked in an authentic Aussie orSouth African style.  The first floor stage also plays host to many live acts playing classic rock and pop tracks.  The stage can be seen (and the music heard) on the first twofloors, with the top floor housing a dancefloor and separate DJ playing more party classics.

Peter Street and Quay Street can be a bit like the wild west on the weekends but I’d say Walkabout keeps it fairly secure for its clients. It’s a lot less scally heavy than sports bar and the other bars in the area. There’s not too much trouble, unpretentious crowd who are up for the party anthems. Live bands add to the energy of the place. For down to earth fun head here. Drinks are a little more expensive than you’d like though!
